The admissibility of an application

This 15-minutes video produced in 2015 sets out the admissibility criteria which all applications must meet in order to be examined by the Court.

Please note that Protocol No. 15 to the Convention has reduced to four months, down from six, the time-limit for lodging an application with the Court after exhausting domestic remedies. This new four-month rule became effective from 1 February 2022, after a transition period.

For more information about the admissibility of an application, please consult the Applicants’ home page and the Practical Guide on Admissibility Criteria.
